The SAME Urbahn Medal honors the legacy of renowned architect Max O. Urbahn, FAIA, and recognizes exceptional achievement in the field of architecture. Established in 1997, this prestigious award is presented annually to a SAME member who has demonstrated distinguished performance and leadership in advancing architectural excellence.

Eligibility

Nominees for the SAME Urbahn Medal must be Registered Architects with at least three years of active membership in SAME prior to nomination. The nomination must also include the state of registration and the registration’s expiration date.

Nomination Criteria

Eminent and notable contributions to the field of architecture, with a focus on significant accomplishments achieved within the past five years.

Nomination Process

Nominations for this award must be submitted by a SAME member and endorsed by a Post President or a member of the National Board of Direction, using the official nomination form. The endorser is responsible for verifying that the nominee meets the eligibility criteria and ensuring that the nomination package includes all required supporting information. The nominator must ensure the complete package, with endorsement, is submitted to the SAME national office.
